Artist Spotlight: Emily Morgan Brown
Oh, I cannot wait to possibly introduce you to Emily’s work! If you already know of her, then I’m sure you’re just as obsessed as I am. If you don’t know Emily—get ready to be blown away!
Today, I scrolled way back in my never-ending camera roll to see when I first saved one of her pieces. Turns out, it was February 11, 2020, when I screenshotted one of her dreamy cloud and field creations. It wasn’t until April 15, 2021, that I finally worked up the nerve to tell her how captivated I was by her art.
There’s beauty in simplicity, right? We hear that phrase all the time, and we can feel it—in a peaceful room with the lights turned low and little ornamentation. It’s the same reason I love color-blocking outfits. At first glance, an all-black look might seem simple… but then you notice the accessories, the shoes, the details that pull it all together.
That’s exactly how I feel about Emily’s work. It’s one thing to see a large piece of art photographed and cropped into a square on Instagram. But when she posts those close-up videos—her small, precise hand movements adding the tiniest details, subtle shadows, or delicate line variations—that’s when you can truly appreciate the time, precision, and skill that go into her pieces.
The first works I remember seeing from Emily—even before the clouds—were her bee drawings. Again, that same magic in simplicity. She’ll draw one tiny, perfect bee on a large white sheet of paper, frame it, and somehow it becomes this BIG-impact moment. Pure magic.
From the very beginning, I could tell that Emily’s inspiration came straight from nature—flowers, clouds, bees, leaves, and fields. There’s such an honesty to it, the kind that feels effortless yet intentional.
It reminded me of something I always tell my clients: buy whatever art “speaks” to you. Just because your home is filled with 18th-century French antiques doesn’t mean you can’t hang a bold, modern red-and-yellow piece on the wall.
And Emily’s clouds have always spoken to me. They feel ethereal—like a quiet reminder that no matter how much darkness there is, light is always on the other side.
Dad, if you’re reading this—I promise, it’s a real thing! You can make friends with people on the internet and not get scammed.
I’m proud to say Emily is my Instagram friend, someone I’ve gotten to know through DMs (that stands for direct messages, dad 😉).
Over time, I’ve shared Emily’s work with so many of my closest friends and told them that one day, I will own one of her cloud pieces.
Much like a photograph, her drawings—especially those of children—capture a fleeting moment, a memory of childhood, a snapshot of the innocence that defines that age. There’s something timeless about them, the kind of art families will treasure for generations.
I, too, am completely captivated by her work and now it’s time… I’m manifesting it. It’s on the vision board: very soon, those clouds are coming home with me.
And as if the universe is listening, back in May, I was talking to my friends about Emily and her clouds. Later that day, I hopped on Instagram and saw she was having a showing at a local gallery that night. It honestly felt like a sign. So off I went to meet my Insta friend in person—and she was every bit as lovely as her art. Getting to see her pieces up close and take in their beauty was such a joy.
