Lindsay Cowles

I stumbled upon Lindsay Cowles' Instagram account awhile back and got lost in it.  I saw this bright, graphic, almost psychedelic wallpaper on the ceiling of a closet.  I thought to myself, I have never seen anything like this before.  I had my fingers crossed hoping to see more amazing work by her and luckily was not disappointed.

On Lindsay's website she is described as "a contemporary artist and decorative arts designer based in Richmond, VA.  She paints large-scale abstract oil paintings and digitally manipulates them into patterns for wall coverings, textiles and pillows."  Well, just one more reason to visit one of my best friends in Richmond, try to knock on Lindsay's door and get a tour of her studio.  I'd love to see how she creates these masterpieces.  I'm in awe of how art and technology blend, yet still have such a custom, unique and personal feeling.

I feel like the best way to see her wall coverings is to see them in an actual setting.  Her art is so dramatic and I think to get the true feeling of her work is to see it "workin'" a room.

This wallpaper would be so pretty in a little girl's nursery or big girl room

She not only makes her art into wallpaper but also pillows!!!  I'm loving how in several of her pillows you can actually see the brush strokes.  Truly works of art in your home.  What's also so great about her wall coverings and pillows is they can work in almost any setting whether it be a traditional setting with fine antiques, a transitional home, or even modern home.  Her work is just so versatile.

Of course we wouldn't have any of her home decor pieces if Lindsay wasn't such a gifted artist.    Believe it or not, she's even self taught. Below are a few of my favorite of her available art pieces.
