Project Under Pressure

As I’ve stated before, I love design and I love music. I’m always trying to see how I can incorporate my two loves to keep me inspired and happy. So, you’ll be seeing that whenever I have a project, the name of the project will always be a music title. It may have something to do with the project, client, or nothing at all. It might just be that that particular song is fueling me on this project. However, for this project, Project Under Pressure, the clients were under pressure. They sold their house, were in a small rental with two young kids and had a 1980s house that needed to transform for this modern family, as quick as possible so they could have some breathing room.

Every space in this house was touched. I won’t go in to too much detail and just let the photos speak for themselves. But a little back info. The client has great style, a natural eye for design and loves vintage so we had a lot of fun incorporating their style into their new home.

Kitchen

Who doesn’t love a nice and bright kitchen? Simple changes in this room, yet it was a big transformation. We Painted the cabinets, new countertops and backsplash. Along with adding the wood columns and new lighting.

Isn’t this stone’s movement fantastic. And the suble undertones of this stone really gives it even more character.

This client has some really fun art. Wouldn’t you agree?!!

This used to be a desk area that was transformed into a dry bar. A much better use of the space for the clients.

Hearth Room

Off the kitchen is the hearth room. The client had this wonderful vintage raspberry sofa that was the jumping off point. We reupholstered their side chairs, new pillows and vintage art.

Dining Room

I just love this room. There was a very small portion of the dining room that had trim work, but we added it throughout the entire space. It helps to give this simple room more interest. And let’s talk about their new light fixture, clearly it’s the star of the space.

I bet you’re also noticing the ribbon art in the family room. Both the client and myself have been long lovers of Angela Chrusciaki Blehm, but this client beat me to buying one of her famous ribbons. Don’t come looking to me if it’s missing one day.

Powder Room

We turned this powder room into a full bath so the downstairs guest bedroom had a full bath. We still added a lot of character to this small space though.

Family Room

This is an expansive room with very tall ceilings. To break up the large, tall wall, we added faux columns for visual interest and added picture lights to highlight the family photos.

Kid’s Library

This tiny closet under the stairs is my favorite space in this house. Those under stair closets if not utilized and organized can end up just a messy closet. Since the client has 2 young kids we made it a library for the littles. The littles will go in there and sit, read and enjoy their cozy little space.

Guest Bedroom

These built-ins were already in this room. A simple change of wallpapering the backs and shelves with new hardware completely transformed them.

Staircase

Again with these simple changes, but they make such a big impact. Remember the biggest design change you can make is with a can of paint. We painted the handrail and put on a fresh coat of paint and look at this big impactful space now.

The client is from Kentucky so you’ll see nods to that throughout.

We mirrored all the way to the ceiling to help visually enlarge this space.

B’S Big Girl Room

Who says blue is for boys? I love shades of blue for little girl rooms. This room already had the built up space for a bed so we rebuilt it and added a rail and stairs with a swing arm light.

Instead of using this as a desk space, we converted it as a changing station.
